Winter's Cold at Sunset Bay

One day I found David Francey's acapella ballad "Torn Screen Door", and couldn't stop listening. It's one of the most beautiful pieces I ever heard, and an hour later the inspiration led to a melody and lyrics of my own.
"Winter's Cold at Sunset Bay" is essentially a song about relationship gone right. About loyalty and love.

[A crystal shower in the morning
as I sweep the ash into the tray.
The frost returned without a warning,
to our little home at Sunset Bay.]

The snowflakes dance around my chest,
as frost is howling through the cracks.
You wear a sweater underneath your vest,
to hide from winter's cruel attack.

Ice flowers are sprouting from the window pane,
and grains of hail are pounding at the door.
Both of us are tired of this cold and cruel game,
as we have fought this battle often times before.

[A crystal shower in the morning
as I sweep the ash into the tray.
The frost returned without a warning,
to our little home at Sunset Bay.]

The snow blows in my face and blinds my vision,
the world turns white before my eyes.
We have always made this decision,
leave our home behind or fight the ice.

Fetch saw dust and glue from behind the back,
nail some planks of wood against the wall.
With every crack we fill, every blanket that we stack,
we see a little piece of winter fall.

And nail by nail we have broken winter's cold,
together we have turned the storm away.
This cottage might be worn out as much as it is old,
but it is our little home at Sunset Bay.

[A crystal shower in the morning
as I sweep the ash into the tray.
The frost returned without a warning,
to our little home at Sunset Bay.]
