Rain Dancing

A very positive and romantic song about the rain.
2013 was the year of the flood. Again. Since everybody immediately started writing folky songs about artificial desasters and calculated catastrophies. In direct reaction to this folk song armageddon I saw it as my duty to write an uplifting song about rain. This positive song even sounds like rain!

Rain is falling down,
draws little brown streams across the ground.
Rain dripping over my skin,
washing away my human sin.

Rain falling all over the lawn,
keeps the grass growing 'til the break of the dawn.
Rain drumming a beat,
drags me off my cofortable seat.

Rain hits the leaves,
they drink hastily the sweet summer relieve.
Rain hitting the roof,
and I find myself dancing to that pitty-pat groove.

Rain punches the air,
before it splats over the cobblestone stairs.
Rain soft and sweet on my hand,
paints a bright green carpet across the land.

[And when the wet work is done there's a rainbow,
draws its colours across the sky.
And couples under umbrellas,
enjoy the last intimate cover from people rushing by,
to be home before long, get their kids off the street,
who are jumping, and playing, and plunging their feet,
in the feeling of warm summer afternoon.
Was the rain gone too soon?]

Rain brings the water,
endless streams wash down the road.
On the stones I find a quarter,
that dripped from a running man's coat.

Rain cleaned the air,
clouds of pollen and dust washed away.
Tall grasses so lean and so fair,
drip softly from green long leaves as they sway.

Raindrops pearl from your lips,
as your dimples curve up in delight.
A soft wind is mowing your hips,
as you dance through the puddles and bath in the light.

[Up in the sky there's a rainbow,
draws its colours across the sky.
And couples under umbrellas,
enjoy the last intimate cover from people rushing by,
to be home before long, get their kids off the street,
who are jumping, and playing, and plunging their feet,
in the feeling of warm summer afternoon.
Was the rain gone too soon?]
